To help us answer quickly, please say which phone and operating-system version you are using, whether the app came from the App Store or Google Play, and what you expected to happen instead.

Prayer times look wrong for my city

Almost always this is the calculation method rather than a fault. Open Settings, then Calculation method, and choose the one your local mosque follows — there are eleven, and the default is Umm al-Qura.

If your mosque runs a few minutes off every standard method, use the per-prayer adjustment to nudge an individual prayer.

If the times are hours out rather than minutes, your location is likely wrong. Set your city manually in Settings.

The qibla arrow is unsteady

The compass reads the phone’s magnetometer, which is disturbed by anything magnetic — a case with a magnet in it, a car dashboard, a laptop, a metal table.

Move away from metal and run the calibration shown on the qibla screen. The accuracy reading on that screen tells you honestly when the sensor is not confident.

The bearing in degrees is calculated from your coordinates and does not depend on the compass at all, so you can always use it with a separate compass.

Reminders are not arriving

Check that notifications are allowed for Qiblatna in your phone’s system settings, and that the individual prayer is switched on inside the app.

Battery optimisation on some Android phones delays or drops scheduled notifications. Allowing Qiblatna to run unrestricted usually fixes it.

Reminders are scheduled by your phone rather than pushed from a server, so they keep working with no connection — but the app does need to have been opened at least once since the last restart.

Recitation will not play

Recitation audio is streamed from mp3quran.net, so playing a surah for the first time needs a connection.

Download a surah from its own screen and it will play afterwards with the signal off.
