Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-09-04

Qiblatna has no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics and no advertising. This page explains what that means precisely — including the two cases where something does leave your device.

The short version

We do not collect, receive or store any personal data about you. There is no account to create, and we operate no server that your app talks to.

Everything the app remembers — your location choice, calculation method, reminders, bookmarks, reading position, tasbih counts and progress — is written to storage on your own device and stays there.

We cannot see any of it, and we could not hand it over if we were asked, because we never receive it.

Your location

If you allow location access, the app reads your coordinates to calculate prayer times and the qibla bearing. Both calculations run entirely on your device.

Your coordinates are never transmitted to us. We have no server to transmit them to.

One qualification, stated plainly: to show a friendly city name rather than raw numbers, the app asks the operating system to turn your coordinates into a place name. On iOS that request is handled by Apple and on Android by Google, under their own privacy policies. The lookup is not required for the app to work — if it fails, the app carries on with the coordinates alone.

If you would rather not share location at all, decline the permission and choose your city from the list built into the app. Nothing is sent anywhere in that case, and the app falls back to Makkah until you choose.

Qur’an recitation

The Qur’an text is bundled inside the app and needs no connection.

Recitation audio is not bundled, because it would make the download very large. When you play or download a surah, your device requests that audio file directly from mp3quran.net.

That means the servers hosting the recitation see your device’s IP address and which file you asked for, as they would for any file you open on the internet. They are not operated by us, and we receive nothing from them.

If you never play recitation, the app makes no such request.

Notifications

Prayer reminders are scheduled locally by your phone’s own notification system. There is no push server, and no push token is registered with us or with anyone else.

What we do not do

No analytics or telemetry of any kind. The app contains no analytics library.

No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party advertising SDKs.

No crash-reporting service that transmits data off your device.

No selling, sharing or disclosing of personal information — there is none to sell.

This website

This site is static. It runs no analytics, sets no advertising cookies, and embeds nothing from a third party. Its fonts are served from this domain rather than from a font provider.

One cookie may be set: if you use the language switch, we remember your choice in a cookie named qib_lang so that we do not keep sending you back to the other language. It holds a two-letter language code and nothing else.

Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention, as any web host does.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data all depend on someone holding that data. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase.

The data on your device is under your control and is removed completely when you delete the app. See the Delete data page.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.

Questions about privacy can be sent to the address in the footer.
